FAQ - FACIALS
WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT TO HAVE A REGULAR FACIAL, AND HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE ONE?
Being pro-active and looking after your skin is the best way to slow down the signs of aging, and to keep your skin clear, healthy and nourished. Having a monthly facial performed by a professional addresses skin concerns and anti-aging, and it promotes long-term healthy, clean and youthful skin.
HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED?
Facials can be done whenever needed to get a deep cleanse, exfoliation and extractions! However, for best results we recommend a series of 3-4 sessions (maybe more depending on the skin’s condition) spaced every 4-6 weeks or sooner depending on the results desired and certain skin concerns.
HOW LONG AFTER BOTOX AND FILLER SHOULD I WAIT?
We recommend waiting 14 days after botox or filler treatments (unless the filler or botox is an area we can avoid, such as the lips).
SHOULD I EXPECT TO EXPERIENCE BREAK OUTS OR PURGING AFTER MY FACIAL SERVICE?
The short answer is no. The products we use are not irritating to the skin and should not cause breakout to surface. In fact, having a facial is recommended to speed the healing process and relieve the discomfort of current acne lesions. However depending on the products you use at home you may experience some purging. ‘Skin purging’ refers to a reaction to an active ingredient that is increasing skin cell turnover rate. As skin cell turnover speeds up, the skin starts shedding dead skin cells faster than normal, to expose the fresh skin cells underneath and reveal clearer, younger-looking skin. Before these new, healthy cells can cycle to the surface, other things have to rise to the top first, like the excess sebum, flakes, and buildup that clog pores (aka, everything that makes a pimple).
I'M GETTING MARRIED, WHEN SHOULD I GET A FACIAL?
We recommend that a bride start a facial regimen 8-10 months before the wedding. This will give you time to see a noticeable difference and improvement in your skin as it takes around 28 days for skin cells to turnover. A minimum series of 3-4 facials is recommended (maybe more depending on the condition of your skin), so your skin cells can regenerate and your skincare technician can exfoliate the old ones to prevent dullness and breakouts. A week before your wedding, go in for a soothing, hydrating facial. Avoid any major exfoliation, as you don't want your skin to have an adverse reaction.
HOW MANY DAYS BEFORE AN EVENT SHOULD YOU GET A FACIAL?
Facial treatments open up your pores which can trigger acne and redness and may make your skin look worse before it looks better. The best time to get a facial is at least one week before you want your skin at its best.
I JUST GOT A WAX, CAN I GET A FACIAL?
Do not bleach, wax, tweeze or use depilatory creams in the treatment area for up to 3 days prior to your facial. When you wax, you expose a fresh layer of skin cells, and most facials exfoliate deeply into the skin, so irritation can result by combining the two.
